Terms of Service
Last updated October 27, 2026
These terms cover your use of Localize.dev: the website and dashboard, the localize-dev CLI, the GitHub Action and the hosted translation API (together, "the service"). By creating an account or using an API key you agree to them.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in details and API keys secret. You're responsible for activity under your keys; revoke a key if it leaks.
- Only connect repositories you're allowed to modify, and only install the GitHub App on accounts you administer.
- One person or organization per workspace. Don't share accounts or create workspaces to get around plan limits.
Plans and limits
Each plan includes a monthly allowance of strings and a maximum number of target languages per run, listed on the pricing page. The Free plan (500 strings a month) costs nothing. When a run would go over your allowance, the service refuses it before anything is written. Allowances run in 30-day periods, starting when the workspace is created or, on a paid plan, on the billing date, and unused strings don't carry over. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance; prices can change with notice before your next billing period.
Your code and content
You keep all rights to your code, your strings and the translations produced for you. You give us permission to process the strings you send only to provide the service. We don't use them to train models.
Acceptable use
- Don't send content you don't have the right to use, or content that's illegal.
- Don't try to break, overload or probe the service, bypass rate limits, or use the API for anything other than localizing software.
- Don't resell access to the hosted model.
We may suspend keys or accounts that break these rules, and will tell you why where we can.
Machine translation and code changes
Translations are generated by a machine-learning model and code changes by automated tooling. They can be wrong. The service proposes changes as files or pull requests for you to review; you decide what to merge. Have important copy, such as legal, medical or financial text, checked by a qualified translator.
Availability
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, and may change or be interrupted. If the translation model is unavailable, requests fail without using your allowance.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it.
Ending
You can stop at any time by deleting your workspace in Dashboard → Settings. We may end the service for an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Sections on your content, liability and warranties continue to apply.
Changes and contact
If these terms change materially, we'll update the date above and tell signed-in users before the changes apply. Questions? contact us. See also the Privacy Policy.
